Floating Hydro Turbine

Floating Hydro Turbine is a device that generate electricity by harvesting kinetic energy of water wave. The generator works by floating on a water surface, the wave of the water will move the magnet up and down along the copper coil and creating an alternative current.



Objective

The objective of this group project is to design a prototype of floating hydro turbine. Analysis is performed to calculate the electricity produced by the turbine prototype.

Methodology

SolidWorks is used in the designing process. The generator consist of floats, magnet, copper coil and stopper. The generator prototype produced a voltage of 5mV.


Achievement

The project is presented in FKM Design Day 2017 that is held on 13th December 2017 at UTeM.
